All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Bugs Bunny

Take joy in singing.

Always make wit your first line of defense.

Always make fun of authority figures; always be irreverent.

Slyness is an admirable character trait.

It’s okay to dress in drag; in fact, it may get you what you want.

Kissing your enemy on the lips will fluster him, giving you enough time to escape.

Even monsters succumb to flattery.

There is no obstacle that can’t be overcome by being a smartass.

The most important thing in life is a sense of humor.

As I mature, I realize that much of my own sense of humor was borne from watching Warner Bros. cartoons since childhood (and, to a transient extent, from reading Mad Magazine during my adolescence). I also believe that Bugs Bunny (and Barbra Streisand) nurtured my positive prejudice for New Yorkers; I don’t remember if this was ever proven in one of his cartoons but, despite many of his vignettes occurring in nature, don’t you think it’s plain that he’s from Brooklyn?

This is a swell post. I’ve bookmarked your blog.

Rom, I love the quote of the day, “People are afraid to be obsessed.” I am going to take this as permission. It’s been a concern. C
